Cubs 2025 Basketball

Each family is required to do 2 hours of volunteer service during the sport season. These hours are for events OUTSIDE of any team activities (games, tournaments). These events are things like Meet the Team night, and the Christmas Craft Fair that fall during the registration and season for the sport you are registering for. ALL parents regardless of paying the non-volunteer fee or not are required to help their player's team during team activities (games, tournaments). The duties that fall under team activities are set up/clean up for games, score clock, floor sweeping, concessions etc. POSA is run completely by volunteers and could not exist without your help.

COACHES - Any parent volunteering to coach will need to attend a mandatory coaches meeting. Failure to attend the meeting will result in you not being allowed to coach. Coach's that are assigned to a team will receive a refund for one player fee after the coach's meeting.

Kindergarten - The perfect introduction to basketball for boys and girls in a fun, recreational atmosphere. It is an instructional program designed to introduce and teach the fundamentals of the sport. Players will participate in a variety of fun and unique drills to develop passing, dribbling, defense, and shooting skills. Registration includes a jersey. The Kindergarten age division will be coed and will play games on Saturdays from 9am - 10am. Practices will vary dependent on coach availability.

1st/2nd Grade - This program is a continuation of Beginner Basketball. Participants will continue to work on the important skills such as passing, dribbling, defense, and shooting by participating in more advanced drills. Teams will be split by gender and all players will receive a jersey. Games will begin January 13th and the season will end with a tournament on March 1st. Teams will practice twice a week, times will be dependent on coach availability.

3rd/4th Grade - Through our program, kids learn the fundamentals and improve balance, coordination, and endurance in this fast-paced sport. Teams will be split by gender and all players will receive a jersey. Participants will practice dribbling, passing, catching, shooting, and footwork skills, as well as concepts of offense, defense, cooperation, and teamwork as a member on a team. Teams will participate in games on Saturdays starting January 13th ending with a tournament on March 2nd. All teams will practice twice a week. Practices are dependent on coach availability.

5th/6th Grade - Through our program players will focus on fundamental skills and techniques that benefit players at all skill levels, including conditioning, hand-eye coordination, footwork, shooting, defense, ball handling, and overall court awareness. Teams will be split by gender and all players will receive a jersey with registration. Practices will be twice a week and times/days are dependent on coach availability.
